Priority 1
Stop Unfair Utility Price Increases
Every month the bill goes up, and every month the explanation gets thinner. Regulated utility companies come before the state asking for another increase, and too often they get it, while Pawtucket families cut somewhere else to cover it. Seniors on fixed incomes are choosing between heat and groceries. Young families watch an entire raise disappear into an electric bill. Small businesses absorb costs they cannot pass on.Mark Theroux will fight every unjustified rate hike that comes before the General Assembly. These are regulated monopolies. Ratepayers have no competitor to switch to, which means the only real check on what they charge is the people we send to the State House. That check has not been working.Mark will demand that any requested increase be backed by hard numbers made public before a vote, not after. He will push for stronger consumer protections and real accountability when service fails but bills keep climbing. And he will say plainly what too few elected officials will: a rate increase waved through without scrutiny is a tax increase by another name, and Pawtucket cannot afford another one.

Property Tax Relief for Pawtucket Homeowners
Pawtucket homeowners are carrying too much of the load. When the state shorts our city on funding, the gap does not disappear. It lands on the property tax bill. That is how a family that has owned the same house for thirty years gets priced out of it, and how the increase gets passed straight through to renters who had no say in any of it.Mark Theroux will go to the State House to secure Pawtucket's fair share. Our city sends its money to the state like everyone else, and it should come back as school aid, road and infrastructure dollars, and support for the services residents actually use. Mark will fight for the state investment Pawtucket has been owed for years, including a serious state contribution to the projects that grow our tax base instead of squeezing it.More state funding is not an abstraction. It is the difference between a stable tax bill and another increase. Mark spent over twenty years serving this city and then met a payroll in it as a small business owner. He knows what these bills do to a household budget, because he has paid them himself.

Neighborhoods Decide, Not Millionaire Investors
The people who live on a street should have more say over what gets built on it than an investor who has never set foot there. Right now that is backwards. Large real estate developments and industrial-scale projects, including the AI data centers now being pushed into communities like ours, get decided by people who will never live beside them and never feel the traffic, the noise, or the strain on our power grid and our water.Mark Theroux will give neighborhood residents the final say on major new development in their own neighborhoods. That means real notice before decisions are made, not after they are final. It means public hearings scheduled when working people can actually attend. And it means a representative who shows up to those meetings and answers questions in front of the people he represents.Mark has pledged to hold regular, open community meetings so residents can bring concerns directly to him. Pawtucket is a proud, close-knit city, and the people who live here have earned the right to shape what it becomes.
