MEET Mark

Two decades serving Pawtucket as a police detective. Now ready to serve it at the State House.

Mark Theroux has spent his life in Pawtucket. He grew up here, met his wife Sarah at Tolman High School, and together they have called this city home for over 40 years. It is where they raised their two children and where they are now proud grandparents. For more than two decades Mark wore a Pawtucket police badge, retiring at the rank of Detective after running the department's Bureau of Identification. He later went into business for himself, owning and operating a small manufacturing company right here in the community he serves.

Police work teaches you what a neighborhood actually needs, not what sounds good in a press release. Mark knocked on the doors. He took the calls at two in the morning. He knows which families are one bad month away from losing the home they have lived in for thirty years, because he has sat at their kitchen tables and listened.

Mark credits his late mother with teaching him what public service means. She gave nearly all of her free time to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Women's Auxiliary, reaching out to people she had never met to help them get by. She believed those were the people who made this country great. Mark carries that lesson with him to every door he knocks on.

He's running so his granddaughter grows up in a Pawtucket she's proud to call home.
